Vintage Indian Teakwood Damachiya, 51″w x 24″d x 33″h

Vintage Indian Teakwood Damachiya, or dowry chest having one center door with botanical carving, and the base with naive bird carvings, The top and loer plinth have scalloped carvings and horse head jutting end supports. There are traces of old blue paint which beautifully compliments the natural teak and iron.

Damachiyas were commissioned by the father of the bride-to-be for her to take to her marriage and was often filled with her embroidery and her hand work.
