This striking low altar table dates to the late Qing Dynasty and hails from Shanxi province, showcasing the ornate carving and structural detail typical of ceremonial Chinese furniture from the region. Six drawers span the front — three upper and three lower — each hand-carved with distinct floral and scroll motifs, including delicate flower medallions and flowing foliate designs. The apron beneath the drawers continues the ornamentation with an intricate openwork vine-and-flower carving that runs the full width of the piece.

The table is supported by sturdy straight legs with carved spandrels at the corners. Traces of original pigment remain visible within the carved details, hinting at the piece's original polychrome finish, now beautifully faded and weathered with age.

Once used to hold offerings, incense, or ritual objects in a home or temple setting, this altar table now serves as a striking console, sideboard, or statement storage piece — its history and craftsmanship on full display.

This item will arrive Santa Fe in mid-October '26.
