A pair of distinctive antique Chinese chairs crafted from solid elmwood, dating to the late Qing dynasty. The tall, gently tapered back features a simple central splat framed by slender uprights, creating a clean and elegant silhouette. The plank seat rests on straight legs joined by traditional stretchers, while a subtly shaped apron beneath the seat adds a restrained decorative detail. Generations of use have given the elm a warm, naturally weathered surface with visible grain, worn edges, and a rich aged patina.
The chair’s simple proportions and sculptural profile make it equally appealing as functional seating or as a decorative accent. Use it at a writing table, in an entryway or bedroom, or as an architectural object on its own. Its clean lines and beautifully aged elm work naturally in Santa Fe, wabi-sabi, farmhouse, mountain modern, minimalist, or contemporary interiors. Sold as a pair.
This item will arrive in Santa Fe in mid-October '26.
