A pair of distinctive antique Chinese chairs crafted from solid elmwood, dating to the late Qing dynasty. The exceptionally tall back features a gently shaped crest rail above a broad central splat, creating an elegant, elongated silhouette. Subtle carved detailing beneath the seat adds a decorative touch, while straight legs joined by traditional stretchers reflect the restrained craftsmanship of Chinese country furniture. The naturally aged elm has softened to a pale, warm finish with visible grain, worn edges, and an authentic patina developed through generations of use.
With its unusually tall back and sculptural proportions, this chair makes a striking decorative accent as well as functional seating. It works beautifully at a writing table, in an entryway or bedroom, or displayed on its own as an architectural object. Its simple lines, subtle carving, and beautifully aged elm complement Santa Fe, wabi-sabi, mountain modern, farmhouse, minimalist, or contemporary interiors.
This item will arrive Santa Fe in mid-October '26.
