A handsome antique Chinese bench crafted from solid elmwood, dating to the late Qing dynasty. The substantial plank seat rests above a dark, time-worn base accented by beautifully carved scroll brackets at each end. Slender legs and traditional side stretchers balance the heavier seat, while generations of use have created a rich surface of worn edges, exposed grain, subtle color variations, and authentic patina.
At over six feet long and with a generous 20-inch depth, this substantial bench offers comfortable seating and a strong architectural presence. It works beautifully along a dining table, in a large entryway, at the foot of a bed, or as a low display piece beneath artwork. The contrast between the naturally aged elm seat and darker base gives it a refined rustic character especially suited to Santa Fe, mountain modern, farmhouse, boho chic, or contemporary interiors.
