Vintage Indian Painted Teakwood and Tile  Damachiya or Dowry Chest,  probably the most fanciful one we have ever offered. It features painted wood, cut-out tin work designs, carved females with jugs on their heads, rusted frame mirrors and tile peacocks on the top border and feet, and a center tile of 2 female deities with tridents and a lion. The maker was not afraid of color! From Gujarat, made in the 1st half of the 20th century.
